U PICK Berries

Now that summer is here strawberries and blueberries are in season. We have been visiting a few berry farms so that we could pick our own fresh, ripe, juicy berries. It's a lot of fun and so yummy !

When we got home we made strawberry jam and straw berry pie. Yummy ! By the way, I will never buy strawberries from the store again. Strawberries have to be picked ripe and eaten that day. (Maya took this picture)

My cousin Merna and her sons Nicolas and Jad came with us to the Strawberry Farm in Carlsbad. Here you can pick strawberries while looking at the view of the ocean. (Maya took this picture) Here's a beautiful berry ready to be picked. Picking berries goes something like this. One for me, one for the bucket. Two for me, one for the bucket. And so on and so forth. You know it's time to leave when you are too full to eat another bite. (Maya took this picture)

Here's Nicolas showing off his berries. (Maya took this picture)
Here's Merna taste testing a berry.

Here's Maya next to the strawberry field. The girls are often times asking to borrow my camera so that they can take a picture. So I finally bought them their own cameras so that they could enjoy taking pictures. This is great because now I don't have to worry about them breaking my camera, and they have a new creative outlet.
The Hook family joined us on our berry adventure. So nice to see them and pick berries together.

Didn't want to forget about Jake. He was missing from the Hook family shot. Here he is munching down a beautiful berry.

I happened to find an old picture of us picking strawberries at the same place when the girls were 2 years old. Look how cute Sahara looks with her strawberries.

We also found a blueberry farm near our house called the Temecula Berry Co.

Sahara has learned to look for the biggest and bluest berries. She is so good that I think they should hire her.

Here's our other blueberry picker.

Sahara reminds me of Juan Valdez in this picture.

This was so cute I couldn't resist.

They blueberries were so sweet and wild tasting I can never go back to store bought berries. With our tasty berries we made stuffed blueberry french toast, blueberry pancakes, blueberry crepes and blueberry pie. We also sprinkled berries on just about everything we ate.

Here's Tata Linda getting deep into the berry bushes.

Sweet !
